Tea for two.

This little girl of mine, she isn't so little anymore. I hear myself starting to say the words, "don't rush it" and "your time will come" more often than I'd like. Her smile lights up the room. Her eyes can tell you every answer to the universe. She has concern for what others think but she still stays true to herself. She reminds me at night to braid her hair so it won't tangle for tomorrow. She asks questions about friends overseas and how certain cultures believe certain things. She prays for their hearts, that they will learn about and love the Jesus she does. She is sassy and easily distracted. She is kind. She loves to sing, and after a lot of persistent practice, has taught herself to snap and whistle and she beams when she does. She tries to mother Kyra Mae which doesn't always go over well. She is rarely without a book or high heels. She likes to accessorize and asks to wear lotion on her face like mommy. Occasionally I curl her hair. She loves dresses. She loves chapstick and cannot wait until we let her have a tube with color. She challenges me. She pushes my buttons and tests my patience. I say, "seriously, kiddo?" quite frequently. Her heart is tender and is easily bruised. There are times where my words are the ones that bruise. She loves deeply and forgives quickly.
There are times when I cringe for the times that will come as she gets older. I sometimes grow weary for things that will be. For when the reality of a fallen world smacks her in the face. When the kids in her class are not so accepting of her personal style. When the world starts to tell her to just give up or move on to something else when the things in life or life itself gets hard. When her heart gets broken the first time by a friend or a boy after loving them deeply and possibly forgiving too quickly.
Then I rejoice. I rejoice at the fact that God gave her to us. He gave her to me to be her mommy. To be blessed to capture that smile and to be the one to look into her eyes to find the answers she may not want to tell me. I rejoice that there will still be times she wants me to sit on her bed and braid her hair before she sleeps. For the times I won't be leading her into prayers but that we will pray together and her words will be without prompt. I rejoice that she has personality. I rejoice that she has started to seek perseverance now and hope that it will be something we can continue to encourage in her. I love how she loves her sister. I know there will be a realistic version vs. the romanticized version of their relationship that I see but their genuine love for one another makes my heart burst. I am anxious for those relationships that cause her heart to break. I am anxious that she is going to go through the phase that all girls go through where parents are no longer the heroes of their story. However, I hope that at that time I won't want to be her hero and won't pretend to be able to fix it. I pray that Josh and I are able to love her and direct her to the cross, to the real hero. I pray that when the time comes that loving her well as her mommy will be what I am equipped to do. And I am blessed to fill that roll, both now and later. Forever and always.

Instagram. How I love me some Instagram.

I have a very nice camera.  One that I should use far more often than I do.  I did use it....before I got my iPhone.  Now, it's collecting dust (which is something I will be remedying soon hopefully) because I love me some Instagram.  Here's some of my favorites from the last few weeks.

Where does the time go?

Time flies.  There is so much to take in with each passing minute that I am just trying to be in that minute.  I grumbled the other night because Kyra was doing her usual 9:00pm stirring and Josh simply said "it won't last much longer" as I ran up the stairs to give her back her paci she'd lost in the night.  That comment hit my like a ton of bricks.  We are four months from having two toddlers.  Where have the last 8 months gone?  Where have the last 2 and a half years gone?  I struggle sometimes with being in the moment and documenting it so I don't forget that it happened.  It's a task I am trying to find a middle ground with.  Hopefully that middle ground will pop out and smack me in the forehead because time is truly traveling at warp speed...Just look...

Writer's block.

I have writers block. So, I figured some cute pictures (the auto correct just suggested picots, really? what is a picot? I'm not even bothering to look it up.) to tie you all over.  Who can resist cute kids? I mean really? Especially when they are this cute...and yes, I am extremely bias.

Okay, so I remembered there is a story with this picture.  It gives me something to type at least...even when I should probably be typing other things. Anyway, when I was taking this picture Teagan had been kissing the mirror.  I didn't catch her in the act with a camera but I was laughing so hard I really almost pee'd my britches.  I had put her hair in a ponytail and then added the spiral pink and orange hair tie thing and after I said she looked beautiful she started kissing herself in the mirror.  I just watched her wondering who in the world had come and inhabited my child?  Honestly, I always hope she loves herself this much.  Not in a narcissistic way but in a "I am beautifully and wonderfully made" way.  I pray self-confidence continues to ooze (ooze, really?) out of her pores.

And there isn't really a story about the picture of Kyra Mae.  Other than I cannot get over how fast she is growing.  It just feels like a wind rushed through an open window and blew my calendar pages all over the place.  So quickly time is passing by and I feel like I am not capturing it like I should.  I pray daily that sweet Kyra Mae knows how much I love her.  That I pray for her every night while I'm rocking her and feeding her and as I lay her down to sleep.  I pray she knows just because she has to share me it doesn't mean I love her any less.  She is such an amazingly sweet baby, so calm but so adventurous already.  I pray she knows how hard I love her.  How hard I will always love her.

Oh the things she does...

A few weeks ago Josh gave Teagan a set of keys to use in her car outside.  We got in a hurry cleaning up and trying to get the girls situated that we forgot about them.   A a few days later Josh couldn't find them.  We just assumed they'd been dropped in the yard, or left in the car and one of the neighborhood kids had grabbed them.  He wasn't too happy but he couldn't really blame Teagan, he'd given her the keys!
Last week we were finishing up dinner and all of a sudden we hear a cackle.  Not a giggle, not even just a laugh.  A pure cackle.
"Daddy! Daddy! I found your keys!"- Teagan
"Where were they, Little Bear?" -Daddy
"In my pocket book, Daddy! That's where keys go!"-Teagan

Oh the things she does...
